AI agent
AI text messaging agent
Consent-only texts that confirm requests, share updates and answer replies, with STOP always honored.
Overview
How it works
Many customers prefer a text to an email. The AI text messaging agent sends confirmations and updates to people who ticked your SMS consent box, and answers the texts they send back. Everyone else is reached by email or by a person.
When a request comes in, the person gets a short text confirmation. The next day, a friendly text asks if they'd like to set up a call. When you change a request's status in your dashboard, they get a text update too. Every text ends with "Reply STOP to opt out."
When someone texts your number, an AI reply goes back using only your approved answers. Questions about pricing, refunds, complaints or anything urgent get a short note that a person will reply, and the suggested answer waits for you. Quiet hours keep automated texts out of the late evening and early morning.
We set up your Twilio number and walk you through A2P 10DLC registration, which US carriers require for business texting. Consent, opt-outs and quiet hours are part of how the system works, not an afterthought.
What it looks like
A typical walkthrough
For example, here's how a week of texting looks for a landscaping company.
A request comes in with consent
A homeowner submits the quote form and ticks "OK to text me about my request". Two minutes later she gets: "Thanks, Maria! We got your request and will follow up by email. Reply STOP to opt out."
A second request arrives late at night
At 10:30 pm another customer submits the form with consent. Quiet hours run until 8 am, so the confirmation text waits and goes out the next morning. The email confirmation still arrives right away.
A next-day check-in
The following day, Maria gets a short text asking if she'd like a quick call about her yard, and to reply with a time that works.
She replies with a question
Maria texts back: "Do you do leaf removal too?" The agent checks the approved service list and replies that it does, and that the team will confirm details on the call.
A price question goes to a person
She follows up with "How much does it cost?" That matches an escalation keyword. She gets "Thanks. A member of the team will reply personally." and the owner sees a draft waiting in the dashboard.
You send a status update
After the site visit, the owner sets the request to "Estimate sent" in the dashboard. Maria gets a text and an email with the update.
Another customer texts STOP
A different customer replies STOP. He's unsubscribed immediately, every scheduled text to him is cancelled, and he gets one confirmation that he can text START to resubscribe.
Under the hood
How our system does it
Consent comes first
Texts go only to people who ticked the SMS consent box on a submitted form. The time of consent is saved with their record. Unfinished forms, chat visitors and callers without that consent are reached by email or a person instead.
A scheduled sequence per request
Each new request schedules a short set of steps: an email confirmation, an owner alert, a text confirmation a couple of minutes later, and a next-day text inviting a call. Text steps are skipped automatically for anyone without consent.
Quiet hours, in your time zone
Before any automated text goes out, the agent checks the local time in your business's time zone. During quiet hours, 9 pm to 8 am by default, the text is pushed back and checked again each hour until quiet hours end.
STOP, START and HELP handled first
Inbound texts are checked for keywords before anything else. STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT unsubscribe the number and cancel its scheduled texts. START resubscribes, and HELP or INFO returns your contact details and opt-out instructions.
AI replies with escalation
Other inbound texts go to Claude, Anthropic's AI model, with your approved knowledge and the conversation so far. A short, plain reply goes back under 300 characters. Escalation keywords hold the reply as a draft and send a short acknowledgment instead.
Replying isn't the same as opting in
When someone texts you first, the agent answers that conversation. It doesn't enroll them in follow-up texts. Those still need the consent checkbox.
Verified, retried and logged
Inbound texts are accepted only with a valid Twilio signature, so no one can fake a message from your number. A failed send is retried every 15 minutes, up to 3 attempts, then marked failed in your dashboard. A text is logged as sent only when Twilio accepts it.
Registered for business texting
We help you complete A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration with Twilio. US carriers block or filter business texts from unregistered numbers, so this is part of setup, not an option.

What it can do for you
Why it helps
Quicker reassurance for customers
People know their request arrived, on the channel many of them check first.
Fewer status phone calls
Customers get updates when things change, so they have less reason to call and ask.
Texting that stays within the rules
Consent, opt-outs, quiet hours and registration are built in, which protects your number and your reputation.
Routine replies handled
Simple questions by text get a prompt answer, while anything sensitive still comes to you.

- Which texts are sent and when in the sequence
- Quiet hours and your business time zone
- The escalation keyword list
- Whether inbound replies send automatically or wait for approval
- The approved knowledge it answers from
- Status names and when customers get updates

Who it's for
Is this a good fit?
- Service businesses whose customers prefer texts to email
- Owners who want customers updated without making extra calls
- Teams who get simple questions by text and want them answered promptly
- Owners who care about doing business texting by the rules
- Probably not the right fit if you want to text people who haven't given consent, or send bulk promotional texts.
How we work
From first conversation to live
Discovery
We talk through how customers reach you, which updates matter to them, and which topics always need a person. Scope and price are confirmed in writing after that short conversation.
Setup on your business profile
We add the consent checkbox to your forms, set your quiet hours, time zone, sequence and escalation keywords on your business profile, and set up your Twilio number and A2P 10DLC registration.
Test in safe mode
In safe mode, test requests and test replies produce real texts that are written to a review log instead of sent. You read each message, including STOP and HELP responses, before anything reaches a phone.
Go live
Once registration is approved, we connect your number, turn on signature checks, and send live test texts to your own phone to confirm every step.
Ongoing review
We review replies, held drafts and opt-outs with you, and adjust wording, timing and keywords as you learn what customers ask.

FAQ
Questions owners ask
Who gets texts?
Only people who ticked the SMS consent box on a submitted form, plus replies to people who text you first. Everyone else is reached by email or by a person. This keeps you on the right side of the TCPA and carrier rules.
What is A2P 10DLC and why do I need it?
It's the registration US carriers require before a business can text from a standard local number. Unregistered numbers get blocked or filtered. We help you complete the brand and campaign registration as part of setup.
What happens when someone texts STOP?
They're unsubscribed right away and every scheduled text to them is cancelled. They get one confirmation saying they can text START to resubscribe. STOP is checked before the AI ever sees the message.
Will it text customers in the middle of the night?
No. Automated texts wait during quiet hours, 9 pm to 8 am in your time zone by default, and go out once quiet hours end. You can change the hours.
Can the AI make promises by text?
No. It answers only from your approved knowledge. Pricing, refunds, complaints and other sensitive topics get a short note that a person will reply, and the draft waits for you.
Do I own the phone number?
Yes. The Twilio account and number are in your name, and Twilio usage fees are paid to Twilio, separate from our fees. If you ever move on, the number stays with you.
